RacketPro APAC is bringing its Level 1 Coach Certification Tour to Manila, Cebu, and Davao as the rapid growth of pickleball in the Philippines creates demand for more qualified instructors.
The workshops will be held in Manila on July 29, Cebu on July 31, and Davao on Aug. 2. RacketPro expects the tour to certify more than 100 Filipino coaches.
The program is open to aspiring coaches, existing instructors, and experienced players seeking to move into coaching. It combines virtual coursework, online assessments, and on-court instruction for teaching beginner and intermediate players.
The Philippine workshops will be led by professional pickleball player and RacketPro technical director Collin Johns, RacketPro APAC managing director Connor Nguyen, and veteran coach Derek Sawer.
Developed by Johns, the Level 1 curriculum covers player assessment, lesson planning, communication, and on-court instruction. The certification also serves as an entry point to RacketPro’s continuing coach-development program.
“The Philippines is one of the most exciting pickleball markets in Asia, and we’re seeing tremendous enthusiasm from players across the country,” Nguyen said.
“As participation grows, we believe investing in coaches is one of the most important ways to ensure the sport continues to thrive. Our goal is to equip Filipino coaches with world-class education, internationally recognized certification, and a clear pathway for continuous professional development.”
RacketPro said it has certified more than 1,500 coaches across 22 countries. It is also an official partner of the PPA Tour and has conducted coaching clinics during the tour’s Asian events.
Data from the Philippine Pickleball Federation showed that the country has 492 affiliated clubs, more than 46,400 registered players, and 427 playing venues. These include 86 dedicated courts in 29 malls across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The sport is also attracting investments in larger facilities and international competitions. Robinsons Land and Kosmas Athletic Ventures plan to invest up to P1 billion in the Helios Pickleball Center, which is expected to have 25 courts and a 2,000-seat stadium court.
UPA Asia has announced plans to hold several PPA Tour Asia events at the facility beginning in 2027.
RacketPro said the certification tour is intended to address the coaching requirements accompanying the expansion of clubs, playing venues, and tournaments in the country.
